Inception

When your last film was "The Dark Knight," needless to say your next film is highly anticipated.  There has been a lot of buzz surrounding "Inception" thanks to early positive reviews and a great marketing campaign.  Is it a good movie?  Absolutely!  Is it as good as you are hoping it will be?  Unfortunately, it is not.  High expectations are difficult to overcome and had this been just another movie, it would be even more pleasing. But you have Christopher Nolan directing, Leonardo DiCaprio starring, and a budget of $170 million.  Excellence is expected and at many time, it is evident.  The directing and acting are outstanding.  Where the films stumbles is the overstuffed story that wants to be both exciting and emotional at the same time.  The emotional aspect never really registers the way it should and at the same time it brings down the fun factor of the film.  Don't get me wrong, it is way better than anything else out there and as long as you don't mind a story and director that expect you to keep up instead of holding your hand til the end, this movie is well worth the price of admission.

+ Visually stunning.

+ Rare original idea out of Hollywood.

+ No stupid 3D tacked on to suck an extra few bucks out of your pocket.

+/- Some action is breathtaking, while other action is overly familiar.

- Storyline is more complicated than it needs to be.

- Fails to register on the emotional level that it aims for.
