Despicable Me

There is no such thing as a kid's film anymore.  Adults being dragged every weekend by kids to the theater are happy with that declaration.  At some point, movie studios realized that they could help grease the wheels for whole family's to see their latest flick if it wasn't slow mental torture for the adults who have to drive them there.  Animated films these days are often a mix of stunning computer generated images, clever storytelling, and enough inside jokes for the adults that I have been delighted to include at least one of them on my top ten list every year.  Despicable me is no different.  Uniquely told from the perspective of the villain, Despicable Me is able to shake the "Ah geesh.  Another film about superheroes." feeling that one is sure to feel every other opening week. Steve Carrell and Jason Seagal do a great job of creating a fun voice for their characters while at the same time being recognizable. You'll laugh, you'll cry (seriously), you'll want a sequel.  Don't be Despicable and be sure to see this movie!
